Kutir is an Indian fine dining concept by internationally renowned Michelin-starred chef Rohit Ghai, developed and introduced to Dubai by TGP International as part of Expo 2020 Dubai. Originally celebrated in London for its refined interpretation of regional Indian cuisine, Kutir combines traditional flavours with a contemporary dining experience inspired by the rich heritage, wildlife, and royal hunting lodges of India.

The restaurant brought together authentic Indian cooking, elevated hospitality, and immersive storytelling in a setting designed to transport guests into the forests and retreats that inspired the menu itself.

TGP International was appointed to adapt and evolve the successful Kutir brand for an international audience within one of the world’s most high-profile global events. The objective was to create a dining destination that retained the soul and authenticity of Chef Rohit Ghai’s original concept while introducing it to a new Middle Eastern market through a clear operational strategy, strong visual identity, and immersive guest experience.

The concept needed to balance refined Indian fine dining with the energy and accessibility required for Expo 2020 Dubai, while also positioning Kutir as a scalable international brand with long-term regional potential.

The interior design concept was inspired by the lush forests, wildlife, and regal hunting traditions of India, creating an atmosphere that felt intimate, layered, and transportive. Rich textures, warm earthy tones, handcrafted details, and subtle references to Indian heritage were used throughout the space to create a refined but welcoming environment.

TGP International developed the full spatial experience to complement the storytelling behind the cuisine, ensuring the interiors, branding, and guest journey all worked cohesively. The design balanced elegance with authenticity, allowing the food and hospitality experience to remain at the centre of the concept while delivering a strong and memorable visual identity.

Kutir Quail Naan - Credit @Charlie McKay-8670 Kutir successfully introduced Chef Rohit Ghai’s celebrated Indian cuisine to Dubai and became one of the standout dining concepts during Expo 2020 Dubai. The project demonstrated how a highly respected chef-led restaurant could be translated into an international market while preserving its authenticity, narrative, and culinary integrity.

The success of the collaboration led to an ongoing relationship between TGP International and Chef Rohit Ghai, culminating in the development of a new concept together called Gup & Shup, which is now open in Dubai. The project highlighted TGP’s ability to transform acclaimed hospitality brands into scalable international concepts through strategic positioning, design excellence, and long-term brand partnership.
